The Eliasson family returned back to the United States after one year, and Grete Eliassen started playing hockey, soccer, basketball, tennis, and baseball, in addition to skiing. When Grete was 13, the family moved back to Norway.

Grete Eliassen kept skiing in Norway, and she she started racing and winning races, becoming the Norwegian slalom National Champion. Grete joined the Norwegian Ski Team and won the Super G competion at the Junior Worlds in France.
