20,000 pizzas to troops: Group organizes Super Bowl 'treat'

20,000 pizzas are being sent to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq in honor of Super Bowl Sunday. The soldiers fighting over seas are not going to be forgotten by one group, who is diligently working to get the pizzas shipped in time for the big game. On Jan. 27, The Inquisitr reported that "Pizzas 4 Patriots" partnered with DHL Express to get the pizzas to the men and women who are fighting for America.

"Since 2008, we have had the pleasure of providing our brave U.S. servicemen and women overseas with the most delicious, authentic 'slices of home,' letting them know we care and we are thinking of them," explained retired Master Sergeant and "Pizzas 4 Patriots" founder, Mark Evans.

Over 20,000 pizzas will get to troops via cargo jets on Jan. 29. The jets will land at military basses across Afghanistan and Kuwait. Although this may not seem like a huge "celebration" to many people, it is a nice escape for some of the men and women who get to take a few minutes and enjoy a little taste of home, so to speak. It is a great way for them to feel appreciated.

"While our soldiers' presence in the Middle East continues to become smaller, they still need to know that we appreciate the sacrifices they make for us, our families and our country," Evans continued.

These 20,000 pizzas aren't the first to get to the troops, either. "Pizzas 4 Patriots" has sent pizzas for Fourth of July and Veteran's Day. To date, they have sent more than 120,000 pizzas to American troops over the past five years.
