UPDATE:

The missing postal carrier has been identified as David Blauser from Penny Pack, Philadelphia and he has been missing since April 25th, 2010.

"We have been in constant contact with his wife," said Cpt. John McGinnis of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Blauser is driving a 2004 red Chevy truck and the police are asking that you contact them if you see him.

Rest of the story below:

The United States Postal Service is searching for a Philadelphia postal carrier that stashed 20,000 pieces of mail in his garage.

The postal employee worked in the Bustleton neighborhood of Pennsylvania and evidently had been not delivering mail for many years as some of the pieces of mail were over ten years old.

Special Agent Scott Balfour says it took three mail trucks to remove the letters from the garage of the mail carrier.

Balfour said the postal carrier has not been to work since February and they are trying to locate him so they can question him.

The recovered mail will be delivered to customers this week.

Hadn't been delivering mail in YEARS? It took them YEARS to figure this out? Thanks for this amazing and disturbing story. Please keep us updated.

Imagine all the people who had to pay late fees because no bill showed up in the mail. And sometimes a late fee will put you over your balance, and more late fees start stacking up.

Think of all the invitations and 'thank you' letters that never got received, and the bad feelings resulting.

Think of the overseas military personnel, who perhaps that last letter they mailed before being killed, sat in his garage for over 10 years!

Seems like the post office would have received an extremely, and noticeable, amount of complaints from the people on this guy's route and checked into it.

Not the first time we've heard story of postal worker hoarding mail rather than delivering it. Probably the smart ones burn it in a barrel behind their house and never get found out.

Crimes like this, they really ought to charge the person with all the back pay they received but didn't really earn!

Article states he has a wife. What, she never stepped foot in the garage? That much mail had to take up a lot of space!
