Going back and forth to daily daycare can be traumatic enough for most two-year-olds, without having to be the toddler getting busted at daycare with 48 packets of heroin in his jacket. But that’s exactly what happened to one baby boy at a Paterson, N.J. daycare on March 10. reported that:

An employee at the center, Michael’s Energy Factory, found the drugs in the child’s jacket, police said. There’s no indication that the child knew the drugs were in the jacket, nor any sign that other children at the center were exposed to the heroin, police said.

After finding the heroin in the young boy’s jacket, employees from the daycare contacted the Paterson Police Department. Lieutenant Bert Ribeiro reported that the father of the two-year-old was the individual that had dropped the boy off at daycare on that particular Monday.

The boy’s father, Phillip Young, 27, was arrested by Paterson police “on drugs charges, and with endangering the welfare of a child.”

Young is being held on $85,000 bail.

Yesterday, parents whose kids attend the daycare told NBC 4 in N.Y. that no-one from the daycare informed them about the heroin being discovered at Michael’s Energy Factory.

"My daughter sees something on the floor, puts it in her mouth thinking it's candy -- same thing could have happened here," said Dulce Ibanez, a parent.

Fortunately as the police stated, none of the kids at the daycare, including the young boy who unknowingly had the packets in his pockets, were exposed to the dangerous drug.
