2 ways to share your 9/11 experience (Photos)

Today at the HackDayTV demonstrations, two projects, specifically commemorating 9/11, were presented. 110 Stories is a phone app that renders a NY skyline with where the Twin Towers used to be from the vantage point of the users’ camera phone and GPS location. Using several applications, the final image shows a sketched outline of the Twin Towers super-imposed over the initial photographed cityscape view. Users can then recount their story of where they were (during the attack) to attach to the photograph which will be placed on a customized Google map. The app is available for both Android and iPhone. 110 Stories was launched in July after a successful fundraising campaign, using Kickstarter, which secured 470 backers and over $27,000 in funding.

Where911 also lets you share your personal 9/11 story. The site posts video montages of people sharing their video reflections that they’ve posted on video hosting sites like Youtube and Facebook. Site visitors can also post their personal story directly on the site by clicking the “Record Video Message” button, which opens the visitors’ web camera or easy recording. Or visitors can text their story to the site for posting.
