Two members of The Tragically Hip - bassist Gord Sinclair and guitarist Paul Langlois – have been named Honourary Chairs after letting tournament organizers know that they would throw their support behind the tournament.
The Great Waterway Classic takes place at Loyalist Golf and Country Club in Bath, ON, near Kingston from Aug. 21-24.
The Hip is no stranger to the Loyalist area as the band's recording studio, The Bathhouse, is located just around the corner from Loyalist Golf and Country Club. Sinclair and Langlois also have a strong passion for golf so it is a perfect fit for them to be apart of this event.
"We are thrilled to have rock legends Gord and Paul come support The Great Waterway Classic," said Brad Parkins, tournament director. "Not only are they locals, they are Canadian icons and are acclaimed as one of the best Canadian rock bands of all-time."
Not only will Sinclair and Langlois have honourary titles for the week, but they will also be participating in the official PGA Tour Canada Pro-Am on Aug. 19.
Events for The Great Waterway Classic get under way on Aug. 18, with the golf tournament itself beginning on Aug. 21.
Tickets are $10 a day or $25 for a four-day pass. Clubhouse VIP passes can be purchased on a limited basis for $150 for the week (Thursday through Sunday). All ticket pricing includes tax.
Tickets are available by calling 1.877.508.1069 or by e-mailing email@example.com.
All net proceeds from the event will be donated to the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital Foundation.
