According to an article published by USA Today on Jan. 17, two students at the Delaware Valley Charter High School in the Olney section of North Philadelphia have been shot by a classmate.

USA Today reports that a boy and girl were shot inside the school's gymnasium about 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The victims, who were reportedly 15 and 16 years old, were each shot once in the arm, and are said to be in stable condition.

Authorities say the suspect, whose age is unknown, was allegedly seen on video pulling the firearm out and firing it; however, it's unclear at this time if the shootings were intentional or accidental.

Reports indicate that the suspect, who was also a student at the school, has been taken into custody. He was reportedly captured miles from the scene close to an hour after the shooting.

Officials say that Delaware Valley Charter High School does have metal detectors, and investigators are currently working to learn how the shooter got the gun inside the school.
