2 puppies stolen from Westgate Mall parking lot Friday night

Spartanburg police are looking for the person who stole two puppies from an upstate shopping center, Fox Carolina reported February 9.

Two puppies were stolen from a vehicle Friday night from the Westgate Mall parking lot in Spartanburg. A woman forgot to lock her vehicle, and found her pups missing when she returned to her car around 9 p.m.

The male pit bull puppy is named Honey, ans is black with a brown muzzle and paws. Panther is a solid black female.

Videon surveillance of the area shows an older model silver four-door sedan as they pulled in next to the vehicle and stole the dogs. They are currently investigating the theft, and would like anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Dog theft has become common in upstate South Carolina, with pit bulls being one of the top breeds sought. The dogs are stolen then sold using online sites such as CraigsList.

Please be on the lookout for anyone you know who drives a vehicle fitting this description. It's possible the dogs were taken out of state to be sold.

This type of crime is rarely kept secret. The thief will most likely brag to someone about their accomplishment in stealing the dogs.
