With the loss of a female Plano resident in her 50’s and a Murphy resident in his sixties today, Collin County’s 3rd and 4th flu deaths have brought the North Texas total up to 39 just this season alone.

Anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms is strongly encouraged to seek immediate treatment. Early detection and treatment is important for avoiding serious complications. Also, preventing exposure and the spread of the flu is critical during this time of year. For flu precautions you can go to the CDC web site at www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/habits.htm.

Please remember that it’s not too late to get your flu shot for this flu season. The County Health Care Department is completely out of adult flu vaccine and has a very short supply of children’s vaccine. However, shots are still available at many local doctor’s offices and pharmacies.
