What has gone from a idea on Facebook has now turned into a national movement thanks to social media and dedicated bikers from around the nation.
I am talking about the 2 Million Bikers to DC Ride on 9/11. It was originally to counter the Million Muslim March on 9/11 but has turned into a much more organized & patriotic ride now and is now dedicated to honoring the victims of 9/11 as well as our armed forces who went on to defend America after this horrific attack.
The "2 Million Bikers to DC" rally, which is the brainchild of Biker Billy Williamson of Virginia & Charlotte Grass-Roots Activist, Belinda Bee, of the Opposition Biker Rally group has seen it's Facebook page explode with supporters from all over the world. As of this writing there are now over 37,000 Facebook Likes alone.
They have released a press release and it reads as follows :
2 Million Bikers to Washington DC - From Across the Nation:
From a “pipe dream” to a national movement, Patriot Bikers from across this great nation are preparing to ride to Washington DC on September 11, 2013, to honor those who were killed in the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.
In the greatest tradition of American Patriotism, we honor the first responders on that day for their courage in the face of the Unknown. Without regard for their own safety, they endeavored to save as many lives as possible, and as a result many made the supreme sacrifice.
In addition, we honor the Men and Women of our Armed Services who have sacrificed so much in the fight against those who wish to destroy the American way of life. Our military has gone beyond the call of duty in their service. Their families and communities have contributed their fathers, mothers, sons and daughters in the defense of our Nation. To that end we wish to extend our sincere gratitude.
To show our support of these great Patriots and as a tribute to the fighting spirit of our great nation and Founding Fathers, 2 Million Bikers will ride to Washington DC on September 11th, 2013. The ride will pass by our National Capital and various Memorials throughout the city.
We ask that on this day of remembrance that all Americans pray for our country and for those who were lost on September 11, 2001, and give thanks to all of our service members and First Responders.
The group has also been getting not only major news coverage but now are getting sponsors to the event who are helping to make this a part of American History. Sponsors include Harley-Davidson of Washington, DC 9407 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, Maryland 20744 & on Facebook, as well as a major worldwide internet radio network called WSNR Social Network Radio out of Treasure Island, Florida who also maintains a large Facebook page.
The movement has also organized groups in ALL 50 states and that list can be found on their Facebook page so riders can all properly organize and ride together from each of ones own states and coordinate right into Washington DC on 9/11.
People from all walks of life will be participating in this event and the movement has even been get praise from the families of some of the victims of 9/11 wishing them well such as what Karen Bingham, whose son Mark Bingham perished on Flight 93, posted on their wall - God Bless you and all the bikers. My son was on Flight 93 and I never want anyone to forget what happened that day Bikers are the best.
So as you can see this will be a major event on 9/11 and according to spokesperson & Co-founder Belinda Bee this event is not only for the bikers to ride but everyone is welcome to come down and pay tribute to those who died that day and our troops. All they ask is that the event stays peaceful so it does not reflect bad on it's real purpose.
