Two men from Bay Shore were arrested Saturday morning after they were allegedly caught stealing auto parts from a Quiogue junkyard, Southampton Town Police said in a news release.
The incident happened at 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 17 at J & V Auto Salvage on South Country Road in Quiogue.
Police said the two men, Manuel Beltran, 49, and Elgar Pinto, 31, both of Bay Shore, were arrested at the junkyard on petit larceny charges after the incident.
In a news release, police said the two men, who live at the same home, were observed by employees at the salvage yard with approximately $500 in merchandise. Authorities said the men left without paying for the parts.
After they were arrested, Beltran and Pinto were brought to Southampton Town police headquarters in Hampton Bays and released on stationhouse bail. The two will face a judge at Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date.
