2 dead in police standoff: Los Angeles police SWAT team engages in gun battle

Los Angeles police say two people are dead following a police standoff in the Watts section of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

The case is an apparent murder suicide. LA Police say that a suspect shot at officers early Friday morning, then barricaded himself in his house, shot and injured his wife and then shot and killed himself.

Another man was found shot to death in a truck just outside the house on 115th and Grape Streets.

Police were first called out to the home a little before 3 a.m. That’s when then found the shooting victim in the truck. A man then started firing at officers, who returned the shots, police said.

The man then went back into the home. Then about two hours later, around 3 a.m., a SWAT team entered the house and found a woman shot and critically injured. The man who police say shot at them was dead. Police say that the man had shot himself.

Three children were found in the home but fortunately, they were not injured. Their ages are 1,3 and 8. Police took the children into custody until they could locate family members.
