2 dead in a police standoff in Los Angeles read a headline on Friday. On March 8, FOX News reported that a gunman killed a man, opened fire on police, and then killed himself in Los Angeles. The man was in a Watts Home and there were children inside, but they were not injured.
After two hours, two children came out of the home and told police, "mom and dad are dead." The SWAT team entered the home and found a woman (believed to be the gunman's wife) severely wounded. They also found the gunman dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An uninjured 1-year-old baby was in the home as well.
The 2 dead in the police standoff included the gunman and an unnamed man who was shot in a truck outside of the house. It is unknown if the man had any relation to the gunman or if the shooting was random. The report says that this started in the early hours of the morning following a domestic dispute.
Although the gunman did shoot at police, no officers were injured. The gunman has not been identified to the public yet. As for the three children, they are all in police custody and will remain there until other family members can be reached. The condition of their mother is unknown at this time.
Although there were 2 dead in this police standoff, this shooting could have been much worse. This shooting will only fuel gun debate around the country.
