On Saturday, June 28 and Sunday June 29 2014 the Victorville Fairgrounds will be alive with the sound of music at the 2-DAY High Desert Music Festival and BBQ Showdown returns. The fun will run from 12 Noon to 9 p.m. both days.
The non-stop live music for this weekend will include performances by the “original voice” of Thee Midniters Little Willie G, the Laurie Morvan Band with “SoCal’s blues-rock guitar goddess” Laurie Morvan, Motown tribute quintet The 5 Tempting Men, The Three Diamonds; Grammy-nominated blues guitarist, Ray Brooks, princess of Billboard’s EDM chart, Destenee, the 60 Grit Blues Band; plus local fan favorites, The Tuba Force, The Doug Phillips Band, Tessie & The Calico Cats, The Blue Henrys and The Latin Express. Young singing sensation Vee Nelson will also be there along with “a special awards tribute to music greats.”
The event, organized by the socially-conscious DEC Group, will also include a BBQ Pit Masters competition in four categories: Beef Brisket, Pork Ribs, Chicken, and Pork. The country’s top cooks will compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes and festival-attendees will cast their votes for the "People's Choice" Award.
This year’s Kidz Zone will include balloon animals, face-painting, magic shows, storytelling and other youth activities including special appearances by Crickit The Magician, Clarence "Chazz" Ross and Danger Man, the Urban Super Hero. Event-goers will also take in the “High Desert’s premiere Car Show”, see Eliminator the ecological Monster Truck and meet Festival Ambassadors the High Desert 49ers the area’s semi-pro football team.
Ticket prices are as follows: Pre-Sale tickets, $20.00 per day (includes two "Taste Tickets"); Weekend Pass, $35.00 (includes four “Taste Tickets”). Tickets at the Gate are $25.00 (Day Pass) and $45.00 (Weekend Pass). Limited V.I.P. Weekend Passes are also available. These special tickets are currently going for the special price of $50.00 and include premiere shaded seating, complimentary wine, beverages and food). A portion of the proceeds benefit Que'n For The Cause, supporting programs that provide foods and service to those less fortunate. Festival attendees who donate a food item for the Victor Valley Rescue Mission will receive $1.00 off the ticket price.
