With 2 Chainz arrested on Thursday, it made for the perfect "cop photo-op" as several officers posed with the rap star following the arrest. The rapper, real name Tauheed Epps, was taken in for drug charges in Maryland after his van was pulled over.
A report from UPI.com on Feb. 15 shows the smiling 2 Chainz in the middle of two officers posing for the Instagram photo. The hip hop star posted the message, "Locked me up and then Wanted pictures smh" along with the image. He also sent a message to his fans regarding his expected concert appearance, saying on Twitter, ""UMES we on the way, dam police f**kn wit a n**** , we fina turnUP."
The arrest stemmed from the rap star admitting his ownership of a backpack the police searched which contained evidence of marijuana and paraphernalia inside. A rep for the Maryland State Police, Sgt. Marc Black, explained to E! Online regarding the arrest:
"Upon approaching the van, an odor of marijuana was smelled coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was executed and a backpack was found with a grinder and trace evidence of marijuana."
2 Chainz later said he believed police were a bit "too harsh with their charges" and also denied he had any marijuana on him. The rap star was apparently on the way for a concert at University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday night, which he still made it to. However, according to IntheCapital.com, he will also have an upcoming court appearance and the potential for a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail over the recent arrest charges.
2 Chainz is the Grammy-nominated rapper behind the successful debut album "Based on a T.R.U. Story."
