Two men were arrested after they allegedly raped, starved and forced two runaways into prostitution in DeKalb County.
And at least one of the victims, a 18-year-old, had been exploited for two years, DeKalb County police said Monday.
Mr. Kamau Benjamin, 28, and Mr. Anthony Means, 22, were charged with trafficking persons for sexual servitude, rape, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and false imprisonment, police spokeswoman Ms. Mekka Parish said.
Investigators said the suspects were trafficking two teens, 16 and 18 years old.
“Detectives say the 18-year-old has been exploited by the men since she was 16,” Ms. Parish said. “They also believe the two victims were physically abused, raped, forced to engage in prostitution, deprived of food and were regularly provided narcotics.”
The victims, who targeted because they were runaways, were then groomed and forced into sex trafficking, Ms. Parish said.
Both teens are receiving specialized treatment for their prolonged exploitation. And detectives are now focused on identifying the men who paid to have sex with the teens.
