Oklahoma City’s State Fair Park will erupt with equestrian activity July 5th through July 10th, during the first Battle in the Saddle (BITS).
Presented jointly by Oklahoma’s State Fair Park and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), Back in the Saddle (BITS) will include competitions (for nearly $350,000 in prizes) in five Western equestrian disciplines:
- Cutting
- Ranch Horse Competition (Ranch Remuda)
- Reining
- Roping
- Working Cow Horse
Equine competitors may represent all horse breeds, although American Quarter Horses will compete for AQHA points. Points may also be earned for American Rope Horse Futurity Association, Oklahoma Reining Horse Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association, the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and other annual competitions.
The event will also include the AQHA Youth World Cup championship, featuring young equestrians from nearly 20 countries.
Western-style entertainment and a Chuck Wagon Cook-Off will also be presented during the Battle in the Saddle festivities, held July 5th through 10th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
“We are extremely proud to be a part of this inaugural event and look forward to Battle in the Saddle becoming an additional world-class equine event for Oklahoma City,” said Timothy J. O’Toole, President and General Manager of Oklahoma State Fair Inc. and State Fair Park (in an official announcement).
