The German music, throughout the weekend was provided by the Chardon Polka Band. Some of their past events (several played annually) include The Geauga County Fair, City of Independence Homedays, Avon Duct Tape Festival, Twinsburg Twins Days, The Poconos Wurst Fest, The Burton Apple Butter Festival, Taste of Cleveland, The Great American Rib Cook-Off, Hamburg Polish Heritage Festival, and Thunder in the Valley. Two months of the year, the band fills up its’ schedule with Oktoberfests around the country and at home. Providing their own take on traditional oom-pah songs, the band is a hit with Oktoberfest enthusiasts everywhere. During this season, the band exchanges their usual uniforms (red and black bowling shirts) for authentic German lederhosen. The band performs at Oktoberfests both as a stage act and strolling band. Crowds everywhere enjoy raising a beer and singing “Ein Prosit” with The Chardon Polka Band.” The band did an outstanding job setting the tone for each evening’s events.
All in all, the 1st Annual Viera Fall Festival and Oktoberfest was a big hit. Hopefully next year’s event will draw even more visitors.
Until next time, be safe in the sun and have a great day in the great outdoors.
