"The Maryland State Police (MSP) will host the 19th Annual Polar Bear Plunge and PlungeFest on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, Md." The Polar Bear Plunge benefits the Special Olympics of Maryland. More than 10,000 brave and caring people from all walks of life take this ice cold plunge for a good cause. "The Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD), provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports events for children and adults with intellectual disabilities." Last year's event despite the brutal weather raised more than $2.5 million and in the last 18 years has raised more than $20 million.
"Registration is now open at www.plungemd.com or by calling 410-242-1515 x503. Participants must raise a minimum of $75 in pledges and will receive a commemorative event sweatshirt."
