The Midwest Home Show will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center November 13-15, 2009. This show is a wonderful way to preview ideas for interior and exterior projects, meet contractors, and it’s also a wonderful way to save on upcoming remodeling projects. Yes, I said “save” on upcoming remodeling projects. The Midwest Home Show is not only the largest fall home and garden show in our area, but it also offers innovative ways to purchase furniture and building materials that you may not normally have access to.
NKBA Garage Sale: This has been a big draw over the years. The National Kitchen and Bath Association has partnered with the ReUse Center to offer the sale of remodeling materials such as countertops, lighting, and tile. These items are often high end products leftover from a job, supplier overstocks, or items that were not usable for its original intent. Come prepared to purchase on the spot with either cash or credit card, and don’t forget to bring your truck or SUV that day because all items have to be picked up the same day.
Designer Flea Market: Be sure to visit the flea market where local interior design showrooms will be offering many of their furniture and accessory items at sample sale prices.
Builder’s Outreach Foundation Auction & Sale: New to the show this year, the foundation will be auctioning off donated items from local Twin Cities builders and businesses. There will be a “live” auction on Saturday, November 14th at 2 p.m., and a Silent Auction on Sunday, November 15th from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some of the items included in the auction include furniture, lighting and fans, and even “getaway” weekends and theatre tickets.
There is also an array of gardens and outdoor landscapes on display at the show. It’s a wonderful way to reconnect with the summer that never was and to keep your gardening spirit alive through the next six months of winter.
