1965 Shelby Cobra with 700 horsepower

As shiny as it is fast, the 1965 Shelby Cobra is sporting over 700 horsepower and a completely aluminum body. An aluminum block cranking out over 700 horsepower in this tiny light weight vehicle creates the ultimate in performance pleasure cruising. Zipping through the mountains in the free air cabin, owner Len B. enjoys the Kirkham Motorsports build. A massive 427 cubic inch, aluminum block V8 wedged into such a small car must be fun! The power to weight ratio is comparable to that of a bullet bikes. As stated in the video's description, this Shelby Cobra dishes out the dust when racing bullet bikes.

The 1965 Shelby Cobra is a vehicle that highlights the aspiration of many automotive enthusiasts. Everyone wants one, but only a few can actually afford them. The Shelby Cobra actually started out as the AC Cobra being built in Britain. A rumor suggests the company was purchased by American race car driver Caroll Shelby, but this is not correct. Caroll Shelby asked AC Cobra to build a vehicle that would accept a larger V8, since all AC Cobras came with smaller engines. Thus a miracle was born, and the classic super car was established.

Watching how the vehicle reacts in this video, you can see why the AC Cobra shell is a great platform for massive V8 performance. Anytime you can squeeze a large engine into a vehicle designed to compensate a smaller engine, massive amounts of performance gains are to be had. Other common V8 swaps are the Nissan 240z, Mazda RX-7, and Subaru Impreza. However, the AC Cobra takes the pie of shoehorned vehicles thanks to it's low center of gravity and extreme rarity. Enjoy the following footage of Len B.'s 1965 Shelby Cobra with over 700 horsepower!
