Well, the Duggars made it to D.C.—and arrived just in time to get a smoky holiday meal.
“When we showed up at Josh & Anna’s, I was expecting to walk in and just smell the turkey cooking and all the wonderful holiday smells," Jim Bob said, kind of laughing. "Instead, there was smoke going everywhere and I was thinking, ‘Maybe I should be looking for a fire extinguisher.’”
You know, I return to my article from last week: This early arrival by the Duggars was rude, and they seem to be completely unaware of how much of an imposition they were making on their son and daughter-in-law by showing up so early. But, despite the smoke, the meal turned out great, and Anna really proved herself to be amazing under Dugger-imposed pressure.
The Duggar girls spent some time in D.C. recording their audiobook, Growing Up Duggar. They took on the city traffic, but together they made it there. That’s the good thing about having so many siblings: You never have to do anything by yourself. On the other hand, you probably never get to do anything by yourself, either, so there is that flip-side. But, with so many kids, there is also always somebody close to your own age if you need to commiserate, and for most of them someone to look up to for guidance. So, “growing up Duggar” no doubt had more positives than negatives when you shake it all out.
Speaking of doing things together, Jordyn had a birthday (Dec. 18, 2008). But, also around her age are cousin Mackynzie (Oct. 8, 2009) and baby sister Josie (Dec. 10, 2009). So, since it is so hard to get the “main” Duggar family together with the Josh-Anna Duggars, given the distance between them, they decided to celebrate the girls’ birthdays while they were there. Josie, of course fans will remember, was born at only 25 weeks, and she has been tiny ever since—she doesn’t appear to be four years old, not even close. But, according to Michelle, she is a happy, healthy 4-year-old, so that was no doubt great for fans to hear: happy, healthy Duggar children all around.
Next week, fans will no doubt be tuning in when Jim Bob, Michelle and Jill head off to Nepal to finally meet Derek in person—will he prove himself Duggar-worthy? Or will Jim Bob find some of those “flaws” he keeps mentioning that he will be looking for when they are there in person?
