The latest new episode of “19 Kids and Counting” aired on Sept. 24 on TLC and it featured an emotional goodbye for the super-sized Duggar family. It began with 27 pairs of hands helping Josh and Anna move into their new Washington, DC home. It ended with tears, tributes and one final goodbye before heading back home.
The Bates family, another big family and longtime friends of the Duggars, were on hand to help Josh and Anna get settled. Jill Duggar took charge and headed up the troops. Appreciating the help, Anna stated, “Jill is definitely a motivator and if need be, she can crack the whip.” Jessa added, “Jill really took control of the situation.” After unpacking truckloads of household goods and furniture, the Duggars surprised Anna with an assortment of knick-knacks, decorations and framed photographs to remind her of home. “That was very special,” Anna said emotionally. "The Washington Post" reported that Josh was hired as an executive director for Family Research Council.
The next day, the Duggar family spent the day touring the National Mall, riding a carousel, and having dinner out to celebrate Anna’s 25th birthday. Dinner was emotional and mom Michelle explained, “As I was sitting at that table, looking at all my children and grandchildren, I thought it’s not going to be this way from here on out.” Jim Bob took the occasion to praise his oldest child, his wife and family. “Josh and Anna, you are great parents and you’re going to do a great job raising these three and counting children you have.”
The next day, everyone rose early to see Josh before he headed out to his first day on his new job. Knowing that the separation from his family would be difficult, Josh was the first one to shed a tear when it came time to say goodbye. Hugging her daughter-in-law, Michelle stated tearfully, “Anna is a really precious daughter-in-law to me and I feel like she is really a part of our family, like she’s always meant to be there.” Jim Bob too felt the emotion of the moment and stated, “It seems like just yesterday when Josh was a child. I really am pleased with the man that Josh has become and I think he’s going to do great things in the world.”
