Everyone in Houston knows the significance of the year 1836. It was during this year that Texas won its battle for independence and the Republic of Texas was born. In due time, Texas would be annexed to the United States, but Texans still celebrate the victory for independence and a big celebration is scheduled for the first weekend in March. Here is some background information:

Event: 1836 Fest

Location: Cottonwood Venue, 3422 N. Shepherd Dr., Houston, TX

Date and Time: Saturday, March 8 from 12:45 p.m. to 10 p.m.

1836 Fest is a Texas feast for the senses. The event centers on, of course, the state of Texas and all that it offers. It is a celebration of music, food, and drink and will include multiple musical artists and beer, highlighting the state and its culture.

The musical acts performing at the 1836 Fest are:

  • Sons of Fathers
  • Band of Heathens
  • J. Charles & the Trainrobbers
  • The Roomsounds
  • Shotgun Friday
  • Sour Bridges
  • The Suffers
  • Free Radicals 2nd Line

And did I mention there will be beer? No Texas festival would be complete without it and the lineup will include beer as well as distilled spirits from:

  • Karbach Brewing Co.
  • Saint Arnold Brewing Co.
  • Southern Star Brewing
  • 8th Wonder Brewery
  • Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.
  • No Label Brewing Co.
  • Brazos Valley Brewing Co.
  • Texian Brewing Co.
  • Cedar Creek Brewery
  • Leprechaun Cider Co.
  • Deep Eddy Vodka
  • Herman Marshall Whiskey
  • Dulce Vida Tequila

Food will be served from some of Houston’s finest food trucks and there will even be VIP and VVIP options for those who like a little extra indulgence and Texas- style pampering. Tickets for the event can be purchased through Eventbrite by clicking here. The prices are reasonable, ranging from $25 to $65. They may not last, so go to Eventbrite and purchase your tickets today!
