Everyone in Houston knows the significance of the year 1836. It was during this year that Texas won its battle for independence and the Republic of Texas was born. In due time, Texas would be annexed to the United States, but Texans still celebrate the victory for independence and a big celebration is scheduled for the first weekend in March. Here is some background information:

Event: 1836 Fest

Location: Cottonwood Venue, 3422 N. Shepherd Dr., Houston, TX

Date and Time: Saturday, March 8 from 12:45 p.m. to 10 p.m.

1836 Fest is a Texas feast for the senses. The event centers on, of course, the state of Texas and all that it offers. It is a celebration of music, food, and drink and will include multiple musical artists and beer, highlighting the state and its culture.
