1800 offers Mexican-American cuisine on the BLVD

Lancaster officials celebrated the opening of 1800 Restaurant, a new eatery on The BLVD offering a selection of health-conscious burritos and tacos on Tuesday, January 31. The new restaurant was established by InSite Development with assistance from the City’s Commercial Property Improvement Program (CPIP).

“The CPIP has helped give entrepreneurs the tools necessary to achieve their goals of turning ideas into real businesses, while at the same time helping us enhance the newly revitalized BLVD,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris, “I am proud of the positive response the program has received, and the steady stream of businesses that continue to populate The BLVD.”

1800 is owned and operated by Jose Manriquez, now the second member of his family to own a restaurant on The BLVD; his brother Atanacio “Tacho” Manriquez owns the popular Brooklyn Deli right down the street.

Jose Manriquez has dreamed of opening his own restaurant since he was a little boy, and now, thanks to the assistance provided by the CPIP grant and the partnership with InSite Development, his dream is becoming a reality.

“1800 on The BLVD is another great piece to the puzzle. Simply put, 1800 will be an eating destination for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night munchies. All of our menu items are prepared daily; not a single item comes from a can. The fresh taste, reasonable prices, great quality, and sizable portions - plus the fact that we don't use any lard - gives everyone a great reason to eat here multiple times a week," said Scott Ehrlich, principal of InSite Development.

“When Scott offered this business opportunity to me, I didn’t think twice,” said Manriquez.

1800’s slogan is “1800: Simply the best burritos and tacos.” Manriquez exhibits great passion for the flavor and special seasonings from family recipes passed down through the generations, serving up marinated beef and chicken specialties, as well as tantalizing carnitas and fresh salsa.

“Our unique salsa is made fresh on site. It is spicy; but once blended with food it is just the perfect balance between taste and spice. One bite and you will be addicted,” added Manriquez.

With its new outdoor patio dining, the addition of 1800 has also helped spur Façade improvements on a neighboring business, the popular Lemon Leaf Café.

1800 is located at 649 West Lancaster BLVD. Restaurant hours are 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m, except weekends which will be open until 12:00. To-go orders can be placed by phone at (661) 951-8226, fax (661) 951-8221 or via the soon-to-come website, www.1800blvd.com.
