17th of May Festival and Parade: Norwegian Constitution Day in Ballard

Saturday marks the 200th anniversary of the signing of Norway's Constitution and Ballard is the place to celebrate. Families can experience a day of Nordic entertainers, children’s activities, free museum admission, live music, Scandinavian food and the very popular Syttende Mai parade.

This free celebration takes place May 17 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the downtown area of Ballard.

All ages are encouraged to check out the Museum, free of charge.Their Café will have Nordic food and drink available for purchase.

Children’s activities (Barneleker) ~10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring the kiddos to the Heritage Museum to make free holiday crafts and pet the fjord horses.

Drop by to hear a variety of Norwegian favorites (on traditional instruments) performed by the amazing Winter Band while checking out the local Scandinavian organizations and clubs. Nordic food, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), pins, flags, CD’s and other products will be available for purchase.

17th of May Parade ~ 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The parade begins at the corner of NW 62nd and 24th Avenue NW and heads south to Market Street. The route continues eastward to Bergen Place Park, turns right onto 22nd, south down Ballard Avenue before ending at Dock St. Grab a spot anywhere along the mile long route.
