The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences has opened up the 2014 DICE Award submission process, for the peer voted award ceremony that wraps up the annual DICE (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) summit in February.
The DICE summit will begin on February 4th and conclude on February 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
The DICE summit is also hosting multiple guest speakers from around the industry, the first of which have been announced.
Confirmed DICE Summit speakers:
David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies, a popular video game and mobile application engine
Ed Fries, former Vice President of Game Publishing for Xbox
Clive Downie, newly acquired COO of Zynga and former CEO DeNA, a mobile platform, free-to-play specialist
The posting on the AIAS site also details the refinement of the Online Game of the Year category, stating, "Online Game of the Year celebrates titles of any genre with a significant portion of the gameplay experience transpiring online -- collaboratively or competitively."
The Online Game of the Year category is unique to the DICE awards in that it takes games not released within the calendar year into consideration for substantial furthering of the industry.
The announcement also features a PDF of the submission form, revealing categories such as Action Game of the Year, RPG/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction.
