177 Pets Flood the KC Pet Project in a week – Public’s Help Urgently Needed (Photos)

Kansas City, MO – The KC Pet Project, operator of the Kansas City, Missouri Animal Shelter, announced today that they have been flooded with 177 new dogs and cats that have arrived at the shelter in just a little over a week’s time.

The shelter is completely at capacity and shelter officials are urgently asking the community for help to get adoptable dogs out of the shelter and into homes and also to get lost pets back to their owners.

The shelter also is asking that pet owners go to the shelter again to search for any pets that have been lost in recent months

“We are working around the clock to maintain a ‘no-kill’ status at the Kansas City animal shelter, We are asking the help of the citizens of Kansas City ” said Teresa Johnson, Executive Director of the KC Pet Project. “If you’re looking to add a new family member to your home, there is no better time than now".

To help get pets out of the shelter the KC Pet Project is offering special reduced adoption fees beginning today through February 13th on all pets that have been at the shelter 30 days or more. Adoptions fees will be just $30 dollars for those pets, and will include spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip, deworming, and 30 days of Shelter Care pet insurance.

The Kansas City Pet Project is located at 4400 Raytown Road in Kansas City, Missouri, off of BlueRidge cut-off and behind teh Chiefs stadium. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday from noon-6pm and Saturday & Sunday from noon-5pm.

The KC Pet Project: Pet Adoption Center in Zona Rosa is located at 7351 NW 87th Terrace. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm, Saturday from 10am-7pm, and Sunday from noon-6pm.
