Dupont Circle Citizens Association (DCCA) is accepting art submissions and is sponsoring an Art Show as part of the17th Street Festival (between P Street and Riggs Place NW) on Saturday, September 25.

Robin Diener, President of DCCA, hopes it will become an annual celebration. Other community partners in this undertaking are the Dupont Circle ANC, Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets and the Ross Elementary School PTA.

The Art Show is free for artists to participate, Diener says, and is not intended to be a fundraiser, at least not this year. It is an occasion to bring neighbors together to appreciate and enjoy the local art talent,  historic neighborhood setting and showcase the area's charming restaurants and shops.

One of the artists from the Foundry Gallery - an artist-run gallery that was founded in 1971- will be reviewing submitted artwork. The "Exhibition" is open to artists in the the Dupont Circle area in any medium. The deadline for submitting applications is September 11 at 6pm. 50 artists will participate and will be notified by September 15.

Kreg Kelley, one of the artists who has submitted an application this year, is an abstract artist living in Washington, DC. Aside from abstraction and 3D works on canvas, he utilizes damaged antique engravings and artifacts from the 18th - 19th century into his pieces. He recently was chosen to have a painting of DC in the ACLU's national calendar. His works can be found at Ulah Bistro & Go Mama Go. _________________________________________________________________________________

DCCA is a resident-based membership group that exists to protect and enhance the neighborhood and historic district. It brings together local volunteers to help from tree planting and an annual House Tour (43rd annual coming up on Oct 17) to fund-raising for local organizations that provide important services in our neighborhood like the Green Door and the Dupont Circle Conservancy.
