17/365 A Year of Places in Photography-The Oregon Responder (Photos)

A few days ago, I watched as the Oregon Responder made her way downriver into the Port of Astoria where she is tied up in the West Morring Basin. aWanting to see her up close, I made my way down to the Port of Astoria where I took a series of photographs of her in port. The Oregon Responder is a pollution control vessel, built in 1993. She is 70 m. x 15 m, and her gross tonnage is 1335 (dead weight 14 tons). The Oregon responders' homeport is registerd as Norfolk, Virginia. She was built by Trinity Beaumont, in Beaumont Texas. As her name implies, the Oregon Responder is one of the first ships to respond to massive oil spills in the oceans and rivers and to ship wrecks where thee is a danger of spills and other types of pollution.
