The Connecticut River Museum in Essex, CT is hosting its 16th annual Holiday Train Show now through Valentine's Day. The exhibit is free with admission to the museum. Located on the third floor of the museum, the exhibit features a fully operational, HO scale layout with 26 feet of winding track. Designed by train artist, Steve Cryan, the exhibit also features a mounted camera on one of the trains that is viewable on a large monitor for a perspective from the rails. Steven Cryan's modeling skills can also be seen at nearby Pizzaworks restaurant in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
Located on the waterfront in Essex, the Connecticut River Museum provides family-friendly displays that detail the history of the Connecticut River. Exhibits include a replica of the first submarine (built in CT), Native American canoes and ship models among other Native, Dutch settler and Revolutionary War exhibits.

Directions from Hartford: From Interstate 91, take Exit 22 (CT Route 9 South). Take CT Route 9 South (26 miles) to Exit 3 (Essex) and follow signs to Connecticut River Museum and Essex Historic Waterfront. Steamboat Dock is located at the foot of Main Street on the Connecticut River.
