Astoria Column stands high atop Coxcomb Hill in Astoria, Orego. Built over 80 years, Designed after Tragan's Column in Rome, Italy, it is 600' tall, has 164 steps, and has over 500' of artwork that winds round the column. The column was completed in 1926, and has been rennovated as recently as 1995 for $1 million; the plaza and lighting were restored in 2004 for $2 milliion. With panoramic views of the Columbia River, Young's Bay, and Pacific Ocean.
