15th annual Farmers Market Friends Hoedown set for Nov 5

15th annual Farmers Market Friends Hoedown is being held Nov. 5, 2009.

This year brings the 15th annual Farmers Market Friends Hoedown, scheduled for Nov. 5. Wick Allison, Editor of D Magazine will serve as honorary chair for the event held at Fair Park.

The hoedown is the FMF's largest fundraiser. FMF will partner with The Texas Department of Agriculture's "Go Texan" program to present samples using donated ingredients from Texas farmers.

Local wineries and specialty food producers will also provide products.

There will be prizes awarded at the "Wheel of Produce" and a silent auction. Dallas staycation packages will be awarded to 10 winners.

Tickets cost $30 each for up to three or $25 each for four or more. The hoedown will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5.

    I'm really looking forward to this event. It's so rewarding to be able to buy local. I'm helping my wallet and my 'neighbors' at the same time. Maybe I'll get some bottles of the wine for xmas presents...
