A 15 pound baby in California was born to a small woman who has previously given birth to large babies. Christian Today reports Jan. 20 that petite Vanessa Cervantez -- only 5'1" tall -- gave birth to 15 pound, two-ounce Andrew Jacob Cervantez on Jan. 16 in Victorville, Calif. He measured in at 24-inches long.

Theinfant boy is the largest baby to be born so far in 2014.

Vanessa Cervantez also gave birth to a 10 pound, and 9 pound baby. She was reportedly shocked at the size of her newest arrival following an emergency C-section.

"I couldn't even believe it. They had to double check because I didn't believe them; I thought the machine was broken. None of the doctors have ever delivered or heard of a baby being born that big here," Cervantez said.

After the 15 pound baby in California was delivered, he had problems breathing on his own. He was delivered via C-section when it was discovered minimal fetal activity was going on.

Baby Andrew Jacob Cervantez was being monitored in the neonatal unit, but has reportedly been transferred to Loma Linda Children's hospital.

Vanessa and the baby's father -- Daniel -- are said to be by their new son's side during his hospitalization.

It is possible that the 15 pound baby in California is the largest infant to be delivered in the state. It is hard to imagine a woman so small can carry a child so large. Thankfully they have C-section deliveries in instances like this!
