14th annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. in Sacramento

The 14th annual Sacramento Celebration Dinner will be held at the Sacramento Convention Center this Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 12, 2013.

Maratin Luther King Jr. was an icon for the civil rights movement in America prior to his assassination. His words and fight lived on not only in the civil unrest which followed his death but also spread across the world.

He will be honored by contemporary poets and former classmates. Jerry and Dorothy Enomoto attended Booker T Washington High School and shared a valecdictorian honor.

The dinner is open to the public and helps "Closing the Gap", an academic group which attempts to close the difference between those in lower ethnic groups and the way towards a highschool or college education.

The Keynote speaker will be Coach Carter who is famous for making his team bring thier grades up and this was made into a film with Samuel L Jackson.

The Robert Matsui Award recipient will also be present, Dr. Alan Rowe.

The doors will open at 5 P.M. and the supper at 6 P.M. The tickets are $100 dollars per person, or a table of 8 at $750 dollars.
