Cassidy Goodson is a 14-year old Lakeland, Florida girl who gave birth to a 9 lb. baby boy without her mom knowing she was pregnant. Goodson was charged Monday with First Degree Murder and aggravated child abuse. After Goodson gave birth, she choked the baby and said she didn’t know what to do with the baby.
Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County states, “she checked for the baby’s pulse, then choked the baby.”
The police received a call that a baby had been found dead in a shoebox in Goodson’s room. The mom said she smelled something fowl coming out of her daughter’s bedroom and investigated.
For months Goodson worn big clothing to hide her pregnancy and her aunts were suspicious of her behavior. Goodson’s aunts are reported as having made her take a pregnancy test. The test came out negative.
What was Goodson’s mom thinking? Reports state that the mom was in denial of her daughter being pregnant.
Goodson is charged with First Degree Murder. She is a minor, and leniency may be given for her age, but the adult family members who were aware of the pregnancy may be charged in this case.
