In Chicago's neighboring state of Wisconsin, a baby boy has been killed after an attack by pit bulls.
FOX News 6 is reporting that the incident occured on North Lakeshore Drive.
FOX, among many other Chicago and lower Wisconsin area news organizations are reporting that Walworth County Sheriff’s deputies say a 14-month-old boy was attacked by two pit bulls in the Town of Walworth on Wednesday, March 6th. The boy later died.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office has now confirmed the incident.
30-year-old Susan Iwicki called 911 just before 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, stating that she and the young boy were under attack from two pit bulls that she herself had raised since they were both "loving puppies who grew up into wonderful dogs and didn't seem to have a dangerous streak."
Iwicki was the child's long time babysitter.
The boy, who had just celebrated his first birthday two months before, was flown by Flight for Life to Milwaukee with life threatening bites, wounds and other injuries. He died soon after arriving at the hospital.
Both pit bulls were removed from Iwicki and immediately euthanized.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
*Reporter's Note: I do not choose what happens in the news and have no control over what type of breed attacks. All dogs can be dangerous. As I have received death threats due to a defamatory article that was written about me and never retracted, I feel it important to note that I only report. In many of my stories, I choose to use dog* (with the asterisk next to it) so that individual readers may do their own investigation as to what type of dog was involved in each incident. I receive news tips that are tailored to "Dog Attacks" that do not include one specific breed.
