The 138th Annual Westminster Dog Show is right around the corner. The highly anticipated event will be taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Feb. 10, 2014. "Ch Palacegarden Malachy", a Pekingese, won the best in show award in 2012, while the following year, "GCH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari", an Affenpinscher, was the champion of the prestigious award. Many people have asked the question, "does the Westminster Dog Shows determine breed popularity?". Horald Herzog and Steven Elias' conducted a study in 2004 to determine whether Westminster purebred winners coincide with a "surge in popularity" in Westminster Kennel Club registration (Herzog and Elias, 2004). Believe it or not, Westminster winners did not influence popularity amongst breeds. The 138th Annual Westminster Dog Show is almost here and you must get your tickets before they are sold out! Have fun and enjoy all the incredible cuteness!
