13-year old Troy All-Stars win District 6 Baseball Tournament

The Troy All-Stars bounced back from a tough opening game to earn a 10-6 win over the Dothan All-Stars in the "if" game of the Dixie Boys 13-year old Alabama District 6 Baseball Tournament at the Miracle Field Complex in Dothan late Tuesday night. The nearly three-hour game didn't end until almost midnight Central Time.


With the win, the Troy All-Stars advance to the state tournament at the Enterprise Recreation Complex starting Saturday, July 16. The opponent and time have not been determined.


Dothan set up the extra game with an 11-1 win over Troy early Tuesday evening. Cory McKibben pitched strong in relief and Logan Herndon scored two runs and reached base three times to help Dothan earn the win.


The second game though belonged to Troy as they scored one run in the first, three times during the second and four runs in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead. Keigan Simmons had a two-run double to highlight a three-run third inning.


Troy led 7-1 in the sixth inning when it scored three insurance runs. Lawson, Drew Starling and Ty Witherington each collected RBI hits for the visitors.


Dothan made it interesting at the end by scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth before falling just short.


Starling pitched out of several tight situations early in the game to earn the win for Troy.
