13 children were injured, some seriously, when a ride at a Connecticut festival lost power. According to CNN News on Sept. 8, the 13 children were on a ride at the Norwalk Oyster Festival when the power on the ride shut down, causing the children to “forcefully hit the ground.”
Norwalk Police said while there were some minor injuries, some of the kids were seriously injured. There were two children who seemed to be the most seriously injured out of the 13, report officials.
All the rides at the Norwalk Oyster Festival have closed down and officials are decided whether or not to keep the rides closed for the remainder of the festival.
The Norwalk Seaport Association posted a statement on their Facebook page. The message said that the organization is most concerned with the well-being of the children and families that attend the festival.
The statement also included:
"We directed Stewart Amusements to immediately shut down the ride area, which will remain closed until the State Inspector has completed a thorough inspection," the association said. "We are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities. Any further questions should be directed to them."
