12th Man spirit for the Seattle Seahawks game

The Fourty-Whiners, err - I mean, the San Francisco 49ers - have played in a lot of inhospitable places lately, like the arctic chill of Green Bay earlier this month. But they'll get even more of a chill today when facing the most unwelcoming place possible, CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

CenturyLink Field is the loudest sports venue in the world, a claim verified twice this season by the Guinness Book of World Records. The crowd gets so loud that it seismic activity {earthquakes} can actually be measured there during games. And all that noise and excitement is generated by the 12th Man.

What is the 12th Man?

According to Wikipedia, "The 12th man or 12th player is a term for the fans within a stadium during American football and association football games. As most football leagues allow a maximum of eleven players per team on the playing field at a time, referring to a team's fans as the 12th man implies that they have a potentially helpful role in the game." Many teams over the years have celebrated and encouraged 12th Man spirit - but none has ever had the amazing show of support that the Seahawks have gotten from their fans.
