Come and learn how to play, or improve your current technique on the Mountain or Hammered Dulcimer at the 12th Annual Colorado Dulcimer Festival. This is an entertaining, educational festival (held at St. James Presbyterian Church in Littleton, Colorado) with 2 days of workshops on February 6 and 7th 2015. Classes are available for absolute beginners to advanced players. Rental Instruments are available.
You will encounter many styles of music, from Celtic to Old-time to Bluegrass and sometimes even Jazz or ragtime! There are multiple jam sessions on both days and concerts both evenings. There will be “headliner” teachers, nationally known players from out of state teach both instruments, and also several wonderful local teachers. All the instructors will also play in the concerts.
Headliner teachers this year are Heidi Muller (mountain dulcimer) from Oregon, and Guy George (hammered dulcimer) from Ohio.
Concert tickets are available at the door both nights (concerts will be from 7-9:30 pm) for folks who may not be attending the workshops but want to hear the instruments played expertly.
Special rates are available for room reserved at local hotels (see the website for more information on lodging and maps)
If you are curious or are interested in learning either of these wonderful instruments to attend the workshops or come to the concerts!
