12 years of prison for robbing banks and child pornography

A resident of Washington DC was sentenced today to 12 years in prison for conspiracy to commit bank robbery in several banks located in the metropolitan area using juveniles to commit the crimes, and for possession of child pornography and sex offense.

According to the plea agreement readed in the Greenbelt Courthouse, the defendant Devontae West (26) and his co-conspirators stole vehicles to use during bank robberies, designated a co-conspirator to act as a getaway driver, wrote demand notes to present to bank tellers, used cell phones to maintain constant contact during the bank robberies and divided the proceeds of the bank robberies amongst themselves.

Those crimes were committed from March 20 to May 22, 2013 and one of his co-conspirator Calvin Manning admitted to robbing the Sun Trust Bank in District Heights on March 25, 2013, which is one of the bank robberies in which West participated.

At the moment of the arrest of Devontae West, it was found pictures on his cell phone which revealed he had sex with a 15 year girl who also he used to rob banks. The offense happened on May 5 of 2013 according the cell phone data.

Previously, Devonate West registered as sex offender in the place where he resides, where he is an employee, and where he is a student, under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

The sentence was issued by the Chief U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow, who also ordered 15 years of supervised release after he served his sentence.
