"12 Years a Slave" tops at the 45th NAACP Image Awards

"12 Years a Slave" dominated the Motion Picture categories at the NAACP Image Awards held Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Pasadena, California at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. During the TV One televised portion of the NAACP Image Awards show, "12 Years a Slave" actress Lupita Nyong'o took the first award of the night for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.

The phenomenal film garnered several other awards including one for Director Steve McQueen for Outstanding Directing in a Motion Picture and John Ridley for Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture. "12 years a Slave" also took the top honor of Outstanding Motion Picture.
