'12 Years a Slave' Takes Top Honors from Houston

See also

Steve McQueen's "12 Years a Slave" has won yet another Best Picture award, this time from the Houston Film Critics Society. The film also took Best Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Best Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong'o), and Best Screenplay (John Ridley).

The only major change of note between other awards and theirs is Best Actress going to Sandra Bullock for "Gravity," which also took a total of four awards (Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score being the others). Shockingly Cate Blanchett was not even nominated for her performance in "Blue Jasmine" after having won the category almost everywhere else.

Lots more awards are being announced tomorrow, including the Chicago, Southeastern, and Online film critics, so be sure to check back for more winners.
