12-year-old abduction assaulted: Police learned that an alleged sexual assault was made up by a young girl. The girl claimed she was sexually assaulted in Waldorf, Md. Thursday by a man in a black van, WUSA reports Dec. 12. She recanted her story -- revealing there was never and abduction or assault.
The girl alleged that a man in a black van abducted her on Hope Circle around 4 p.m. Thursday. She explained that she was driven to an area off Pierce Road where she was sexually assaulted by the man.
Thursday evening, the story changed and the girl recanted her story, the Charles County Sheriff confirmed. So, there was no abduction or sexual assault.
While it's good news to know that this 12-year-old girl initially claiming abduction and sexual assault was never harmed, it's disturbing that she would make up such a story. It makes one wonder why anyone -- especially a child -- would want to fabricate such a terrible story.
A lot of children who face abduction are assaulted in some form or other. This 12-year-old girl at least was honest in the end about what happened to her.
