There are lots of ways that you can find to generate leads using Web-based marketing today. In fact, there are so many options that considering them all could lead to insanity.

Which ones are cost-effective? How good are those that cost little money? Which options fit in with today’s demands on Internet marketers that they be highly creative, engage in permission selling, and act as their own social objects?

How to Get Quality Leads

Here are 12 marketing options that web-based marketers consistently find high-quality leads for their sales force. (These are not ordered by importance.)

  1. Press releases are a brilliant marketing tool. They allow you to engage in a form of creative copy writing without actually writing sales copy. Since they’re a news item, they can get picked up by journalists and spread like wildfire. If you’re able to write them yourself, their production costs you nothing. You just have to pay a modest fee for distribution. (Don’t use free PR distribution sites, they’re not worth it.)

  2. Flipboard is a fast-rising social media marketing outlet. It costs you nothing to get your content published at Flipboard, which "helps people discover, view and share content from across the Web and social networks [with] its visually stunning layout".

  3. Google AdWords. Still one of the most powerful ways to reach people. The costs of AdWords can add up, but if they do that only means that you’re getting a lot of click-throughs which ought generate serious profits (after marketing expenses) over time.

  4. Videos. We are visual people. Videos allow people to take in lots of information and impressions in a relatively short amount of time compared to reading. It’s still important to get your videos up at YouTube, but don’t neglect putting them up at rising star Vimeo, too. Also consider embedding video in with your PRs. It’s also a great idea to put together an entire video series.

  5. Tumblr is a great place for a creative marketing blog. The people who frequent Tumblr love to share great imagery as well as short but inspiring or informative text. At least as of now, don’t be scared off by the fact that Yahoo bought Tumblr in May of 2013 -- Yahoo thus far hasn’t screwed it up.

  6. Images. As mentioned already, human beings are a visual species. Use great images all over the place: your website, your blog, your Tumblr, posted on Flickr, posted on Pinterest, within your videos. You can photograph, draw, or share (within licensing agreements) the imagery that you choose to use.

  7. Ebooks. You can use ebooks strictly as promotional marketing pieces and give them away, or you can sell them for profit and still attract attention to the rest of your business offerings, too. Ebooks are simply brilliant.

  8. E-course. People who gobble up educational materials make great prospects. You can create an e-course through writing, video, or audio. Have people subscribe to it at your website. They will receive more lessons from the course periodically (every week, twice per week, etc) via e-mail. The e-course keeps your name in front of people and lets you build trust with them, both of which actions make them far more likely to buy from you.

  9. Podcasts. Over 35 million people (a growing number, too) download at least one podcast per month now. That’s just huge. Podcasts are like free little audiobooks -- a coveted media form in this busy busy day and age.

  10. Network on Google+. Google+ is the networking place to be now and in the foreseeable future. Don’t forget to make use of Hangouts when you start your Google+ conquest.

  11. Guest blogging. Get your backlinks out there while building authority and showing your creative side. Some websites even pay guest bloggers!

  12. Host webinars. Webinars are more interactive than e-courses and can make very powerful, positive impressions on numerous people all at one time.
