Baby Boomers seeking answers to caregiving problems can meet representatives of area service agencies on Thursday, Nov. 12, 6-9 pm, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kettering at 3939 Stonebridge Road.
This year's event -- the 11th annual Family Forum, provided by the Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association -- features Dr. Peter Rabins, co-author of The 36 Hour Day, a book dubbed "Both a guide and a legend," by the Chicago Tribune. First published in 1981, it provides practical tips for helping people with the specific kinds of dementia problems resulting from Alzheimer's Disease, such as putting a picture of a toilet on the bathroom door.
Participants at the forum are asked for $10 registration fee per family. To register or for more information, please call Eric VanVlymen at 937.291.3332 or 800.272.3900 or email at eric.vanvlymen@alz.org.
For more info: Other local resources are listed at my story on Baby Boomer caregivers. Miscellaneous caregiver blogs, videos, and message boards -- helpful for the caregiver too busy to attend a meeting -- may be found at my story reviewing these things.
