11 things you can do with leftover Peeps

I've seen Peeps in just about every store in Berea this week – chicks and bunnies, regular size and jumbo, Peeps-on-a-stick and Peeps-in-an Egg, and Walmart even has Peeps shaped like flowers. And I know, it's hard to believe that anyone actually has leftover Peeps. I mean, how can you NOT eat a Peep? It's basically a sugar-coated blob of …. more sugar, right? Yet, I know for a fact there are a few deranged people on the planet who don't really like this sugary treat. Oh, well. Their loss.

But let's say you eat a few Peeps, get all hyped up on sugar, and decide to make a run to the grocery store. And there, just inside the door, is a big display of even more sugary Peeps. Who could resist, right?

Now that you've crashed and your blood sugar has reached an acceptable level again, what are you planning to do with all those blobs of yellow, marshmallowy goodness you bought while you were in a sugar-induced state of euphoria? Here, let me help. This is a list of 11 things you can do with leftover Peeps...if you have any, that is.

  • Make s'mores
  • Put them in your hot chocolate
  • Blow them up in the microwave just for the fun of it
  • Use them to replace the marshmallows in Rice Krispie Treats (20-25 Peeps)
  • Make peanut butter and Peep sandwiches
  • Chop them up and use them in Waldorf or Ambrosia salad
  • Serve them with chocolate fondue
  • Use them to decorate cakes and cupcakes
  • Use them to top your next sweet potato casserole
  • Put them on a stick, dip them in melted chocolate, roll in nuts and freeze. Peepsicles!
  • When all else fails, serve them with vodka

Peeptinis

  • 1 oz vanilla vodka
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz passion fruit juice
  • dash of lemon juice
  • Peeps

Combine vodka, pineapple juice, passion fruit juice and lemon juice in an ice filled shaker. Shake well and strain into chilled martini glass. Make a small cut in the bottom of a Peep and attach it to edge of glass.
