WINNIPEG – The University of Winnipeg Department of Theatre and Film invites submissions for its 10th Annual University of Winnipeg Student Film Festival, which runs April 25-27, 2012.
The Student Film Festival gives student filmmakers an opportunity to have their work juried by a panel of local filmmakers and screened publicly. Films can be in any style, type or genre, and must run between two and 30 minutes in length.
To be eligible, participants must be registered at a post-secondary institution between April 2011 and April 2012. Deadline for submissions is Monday, April 9 at 4 p.m. There is no charge to participate.
Submission forms are available on The University of Winnipeg campus at the UWSA Info Booth (Main Floor, Centennial Hall) and the office of the Department of Theatre and Film (Room 3T03), or online.
Successful entries will be announced on Monday, April 16, 2012. Screenings of all films will take place on April 25-26 (7-10:00 p.m.) in Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall (3rd Floor Centennial Hall) at the University of Winnipeg.
The festival will end the following day with a gala evening (7 p.m.) featuring the première of Nicholas Friesen's "Made for Each Other," a special guest, awards ceremony, and reception to celebrate the winning films of the Festival. Prizes will be awarded for: Best Animation, Best Documentary, Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Editor, Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Actor, Best Actress and Audience Favourite.
The 10th Annual University of Winnipeg Student Film Festival is a free, public event.
